Most people who feel unsure about their accent do not need a "better accent". They need to be easy to understand. Research on second-language speech separates accent (how different you sound from a native pattern) from intelligibility (how easily a listener understands you). Clear word and sentence stress often matters more than perfect individual sounds.
This toolkit works differently from a reading-only guide. It is built around listening to British English rhythm and recording your own voice, so you can hear the difference and practise it.
🇬🇧 WHAT YOU GET
- Interactive toolkit with 7 sections: word stress, sentence stress, linking words, self-recording practice, asking to repeat yourself, checking you have been understood, and a word on accent bias
- 38 audio recordings, read aloud in a British accent, so you can hear where the stress and rhythm fall
- A "Record yourself" box in the toolkit: record, play back and compare with the model audio
- A Recording log tab to track your practice, and a notes area
- A "Test yourself" quiz (11 questions) with explanations
- Downloadable PDF to keep and study offline (18 pages)
- Works on phone, tablet and computer. No app or account needed. Recording needs a microphone and your browser's permission.
Privacy note: your notes and log are saved in your own browser only. Your recordings stay on your device, are never uploaded, and disappear when you close or refresh the page unless you save a take.
